Jehovah's Witness Discussion (JWD) is a great discussion site about Jehovah's Witnesses and related topics. It is very active and has some great researchers, so if you have a question, you're likely to get a lot of help quickly. It's very useful if you are trying to recover from cult influence and are looking for support. It's archive is very extensive and has a useful search feature for research.

i am from liverpool in the uk and i am having some difficulty with the witnesses. i would like to know where i stand on the issue of how long have i got to have stopped attending meetings and associating with witnesses before i am no longer subject to a judicial comitee. i stopped being a witness 15 months ago and do not associate with any witnesses.
however i recently celebrated my 30 birthday in the privacy of my own home. somehow this got back to the local elders and i am now receiving phone calls saying they need to see me over this issue! as i am still a baptised brother! harrasment i would call it!

There is no time limit. They can call forever. If you do not comply, they have changed rules about 10 years ago that allow them to take action anyway. The best thing to do, if you are worried about being able to speak to family (I can think of no other reason to care), is meet them, cry for a minute, say sorry, then never go back.

I was born and raised a JW, my father was a minister, for those who are still effected by this sect I can only say this. my perception of all religion is this its all BUNK, none of them are true
Ask yourself this, if nowadays anyone that hears the voice of god is considered crazy, why would I believe someone who I never met, who lived more than 2000 years ago, who I dont have their original writings and that religion says THEY HEARD THE VOICE OF GOD

You are only subject to their authority as long as you are willing to acknowledge it. Kick them out of your head, it is going to be ok.
